Girls Night

I have been wanting to start having monthly girls nights. I eventually want to have a group of ladies to craft with and just be girly with. The first night was double duty. Girls night, while also helping out my friend Cathy who is starting out her Mary Kay biz. I wanted desserts and lots of them, so I knew I was not going to want to wear tight cute pants. I wanted the coziest clothes I could think of, so I decided on a Pajama party!

Only Problem with that is, I did not have any cute Pj's. I typically just wear an old t shirt or maybe some sweat pants. But that isn't fun, so I had to have some new ones. Christmas is coming, money is tight, and I have a ton of fabric, sooo that results in making some pants.

Actually made them into Capri's. I think they are pretty cute. I really like the soft satin ribbon bow. The picture on the other hand....

I sort of looked over this tute before I started, but I kind of just went with it.

They aren't perfect, one leg needs to be fixed, but good enough!

Perfect for my fun evening with the girls.
We had, Peanut butter cookie sandwiches. So good! Recipe here...

Oreo Truffles, Cheesecake stuffed Strawberries, Some Popcorn

And just a good time with Pjs, make up, and friends. One thing I forgot to mention... Because a lot of my girl friends husbands are deployed or out of town, we had kids come also. There ended up being 11 kids, 10 of them boys! It was a crazy mad house. Still fun though! (Next time, no kids!)

Birthday Decor

In addition to the Elmo birthday decor for Brady's party, I made some things that could last for future birthday's.

First was a birthday banner made out of scraps of felt.

This way we can hang up the banner for anyone's birthday

Here it is in action for Brady's party

Next was the birthday wreath like the one on How does she

Mine was slightly different, it was just a coat hanger

With balloons tied to it, instead of poked into the wreath

Hopefully it will add a bit of extra specialness for the future birthday's and celebrations around here.

Sesame Street Birthday

Yesterday was Brady's 2nd birthday bash. He had a Sesame Street party in honor of his obsession with Elmo and Sesame Street. As normal I made quite a few things for his party. I was too busy being hostess and did not have time to take good pics, sorry.

First was the Elmo invite.

Brady's Elmo party shirt. I finally did some freezer paper stenciling, super fun!

I tried to make Elmo cupcakes, on a cupcake stand I made. Not up to my standards, but Brady still likes them.

Elmo and Cookie monster party hats.

We had a Elmo coloring/craft table.

Adult party favors, cookies on a stick.

Kid party favors, mini crayon rolls, with note pads.

What a great day for our sweet boy! Can't believe he is two!

Birthday Boy Outfit

My friends baby turned one this past weekend. He needed a special little something for his birthday, so I made him a birthday crown and bib.

For his crown, I simply used stiff interfacing, some left over fabric (I have a ton), and some elastic.

I also made a birthday bib. I only used fusible webbing for the letters because I know that it will not be used very much. But if it was going to be used, and washed often I would have also sewn the letters on.

Baby Shower Week - Extras

Sadly today is the last day of Baby shower week, but I had so much fun sharing everything baby.

Today is about some extras I did for the shower.

First off is one of my favorites, the diaper cake. I love giving these, and even more, I LOVE getting them. It is simply a cake, but made of diapers. They can have many different things on them, google diaper cakes and you can get some great ideas.

Here is the simple diaper cake I made for Becky's shower.

Here is a pregnant me with the diaper cake my cousin made me, so cute.

I made this diaper cake for my friend Jennifer's cowboy themed baby shower. We hosted that shower two and half years ago, and now that sweet baby is potty trained! How do they grow so fast? :(

The party favors for this shower were hand sanitizers, with cute labels on them. The labels thanked everyone for coming, and had the shower date on them.

They were with a sign that said:

"We were so glad you were able to join us on this special day. Jeremiah can't wait for you to hold him and see his cute little face. Take one, and clean your hands, or you will have to stay away! Thanks for coming!"

The sign might have been a little rude, but oh well, I thought it was cute.

Well that's it! Thanks for joining me for Baby shower week.
And thank you Becky for having a baby, and letting me use him for my blog! Can't wait to meet him! :)

Baby Shower Week - Present

Along with making stuff for the baby shower, I also made the present I gave.

It was a lot of little things, so this post may be long.

I crocheted a baby blanket, similar to this one.

Made some more prudent baby burp cloths.

Another bib, this time it is reversible, and has a J on it.

Big bro and Little bro shirts
I loved these, and I will definitely make more of these for future gifts.

I used iron on fusible webbing for the letters

And I also sewed around the letters to make sure they were not coming off.

Lastly I added an iron-on light interfacing so everything would stay secure.

A prudent baby hooded towel

Car seat cover
I am proud of this one, because it is pretty original, and I did not use a pattern. It was super easy, though.
Becky and I saw one similar to this in the mall one day, and she really liked it.
Because the baby will be little while it is warm outside, I made it out of lightweight cotton, but it could be made with fleece or something else for the winter.

Unlike car seat tents (which are really cute), it has a hole in the top so you can easily see how baby is doing.

It is elastic on the bottom, so it can easily fit different car seats.

It is also reversible, love that fabric.

Finally, I put a little baby book and all the things I made in a basket, and it made a great present.
