A few more gifts

I am not editing these photos or anything, just wanted to quickly share something. This week shall offically be called craft week, so I am going to have some great things to share once again. Poor blog, so neglected.

Months ago now, I made a few gifts for some friends and their new babies.
My friend  Jennifer had a sweet baby girl, and her Big brother is just elated.
Now they can matching shirts, and plus big brother feels included.
Next up was another friend with another little girl. I Loved this quilt top. And I loved the idea of it quilted.
And then I started quilting! I feel like I ruined it. I did not pin enough, and I thought I was using differnet batting.
Oh well, it is still okay, just very homemade looking, not professional at all.
At least I can learn from it in the future.
Sorry, that was a bit boring huh? I promise, something good soon, I miss this little part of the web.  Hope you and you family have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

More Handmade Gifts

You know you are up too late when, you are still awake and your baby wakes up for one of his nightly feedings. I will be having coffee tomorrow, but at least the floor is mopped. Oh and pictures are not edited at all, it is way too late for that!

I say this often, but I love receiving and giving handmade gifts. I love it when something you work hard on, can make someone else happy.
Recently I just laugh when people say something like:
"cute, where did you get this?"
I say, "I made it."
"You made it?!?"
Then I smile, while thinking how is it so unbelievable that I made that?

Anyway, my friends are slowly starting to realize my awesomeness. :)

The birthday parties have started. We haven't had too many until now, but with preschool, is sure to come many parties.

This gift seems great for a three year old, and it is super inexpensive.
A crayon roll, coloring books, and a little backpack.
I think it is pretty cute. I would wear it! I used the noodlehead pattern. She makes some great patterns if you need something. Love how clear and easy to follow her tutes are.
Our little friend loved it also.
Another gift was for a new baby boy.
A ribbon blankie, but this one had bells in one corner.
Soft flannel, super soft minky, different textures ribbons, crunch inside, little bells. Awesome sensory blanky. Bryson loves his, but he may need one with bells.
There is also a longer snap ribbon for a toy or paci. Combine that with a store bought swaddler blanket, (love those things), and it makes a great gift.
The ribbon blanky is making its way back to the etsy shop very soon.
I have to ask your opinions. Long ribbon for toy or paci, or without. We don;t really use paci's so Bryson is great without needed that extra ribbon, but maybe other babies would like it. Hmmm maybe both?

Baby Girl Gifts - 2

Life is slooowly getting back to normal and on a schedule. Last night Bryson slept from around 8 to 5, and Brady slept from 8:30 to 7! It was so awesome! It is still very hard to get things accomplished, but I am starting to. I know that it will be so soon before both boys are grown up and want nothing to do with me, and I will have nothing but time!
One of my friends had a baby girl a long while back. I am just finally getting around to posting what I made for her. Though I love making boy stuff, I really like making girly things because I do not get to do them very often. In fact another dear friend, who did not know the sex of her baby, had a girl yesterday, so I am hoping to be able to make some more cute girl things very soon.
For my friend's baby girl, I had a pink dyed onesie that I did a simple appliqued heart on.
I included some ruffled baby legs to match.
And also a minky and cotton appliqued blanket to match. They all turned out really cute, and made a nice little gift. Who doesn't love giving sweet baby gifts?
I have a few more things to share, so I hope that it does not take me a month for my next post! Hope you are enjoying your summer!

Cozy Girl Blankie

Still no baby. It will come eventually right? I am really trying to keep my mind off of baby, and on other things. I would be walking constantly, enjoying the gorgeous weather and trying to walk the baby out, but it has been unseasonable cold. This is normally one of my favorite times of year, but it has been cold, rainy, and even a little snowy. So ready for warm weather, to stay.
All of this coldness has made me realize that when the baby is born, if it is still cold it will not have much to wear. Brady was born in the middle of summer, so we did not have to worry about extra warm newborn clothes. Thankfully, I do have warm boy blankies, so the baby could be snuggled up. But if the baby is a girl, she only has her two summery outfits, and a few gender neutral swaddling blankets.
I have a ton of fabric laying around for other things, so I knew it would be super easy to make a cozy girl blankie. It was easy, and only took a few minutes. It has rounded corners, one side is flannel, and the other side is a soft minky like fabric. Sadly I forgot how hard it can be to sew the minky like stuff. Much harder than real minky. It stretches, and bunches, and makes things look kinda weird. You need to pin a ton, which my lazy self did not do. So the blankie is not perfect, in any sense, but babies don't notice that.
They just know that it is soft, warm and cozy. It will be nice on cold Colorado nights, and nice to snuggle with. Does not hurt that it was free. Even if our baby is not a girl, this blankie can go to one of my millions of pregnant friends. So convenient.

Baby Girl Coming Home Outfit

Since I haven't made enough stuff for this baby (ya right), I wanted to make some coming home outfits for the baby.  For possible baby Abigail Lynn I made the Prudent baby, 10 minute onezie dress
I added a ribbon and yo-yo flower to the top of the oneszie also. It is still comfy for baby, but I think cute. I did not want the skirt super full, but if I made this again, which I will if the baby is an Abby, then I would make it much fuller.
Of course any little girl of mine will need some accessories. This headband was only 49 cents at Hobby Lobby. I added a rolled fabric flower to a barrette so that the barrette can come off.
Of course I have a back up outfit in case the dress does not fit, or if she really is a girl, she will need more clothes. This is the only girl outfit I have bought, I also got two girly gowns, but that is it. This was only $5 at Costco, how could I resist? There will be some serious shopping if this baby is a girl.
I had a daisy flower lying around, so I added that with a button to a barrette, and used my 49 cent headband.
What will I do with these things if the baby is a boy? The dress I will most likely keep and save for a future possible girl. The other outfit? Well it is a good thing I know 13 other pregnant ladies!
Only one more month until my due date! I cannot wait to meet this little one, and see if it is a boy or girl!

Girl Bumper

The little girl bumper pad is very similar to the boy bumper. Because they are so similar you would think that this one would be perfect because I learned from all of my mistakes. Sadly it was just as difficult. I used some bumper forms that I bought at Joanns, which were in several pieces, not the one long piece like the boy bumper.
I used grosgrain ribbon for the ties, but everything else was the same.
In the end I think both bumpers turned out pretty cute, and the look great in the baby's room.
