Scrap Ruffle Necklace

I recently saw a necklace on pintrest and I really liked it. (Her shop is very cute by the way, I will take any of those items!)
I knew that it really could not be all that hard to make, so I tried it. It turned out really well, not as good as hers, but still pretty good for free.
I started with a necklace I was not using, and a fabric scrap. I think it was about 2 1/2" wide and 8" long.
Because I used a fabric that frays very easily, I first used a zig-zag stitch to prevent further fraying.
Now we can sew our ruffle.  I used  a 1/4" seam allowance, and folded the fabric in half.
Use the normal extra long stitch, and pull one thread to create a ruffle. Once the ruffle is the desired length, the ends can be tied off, so the ruffle does not come out. Now you can simply use a safety pin to thread the necklace through the ruffle, and you are done.
Now you can trade out that ruffle to match any outfit. I like to wear my navy ruffle necklace with a salmon colored tank, and navy cargo pants. So many options, and it adds just a little cuteness.

Flower pom pom necklace

I saw a tutorial via pintrest for a pom pom necklace. I was wanting to make something similar, so the tutorial gave me some inspiration.
Because I am in my no fabric buying, make it work phase, I cut up an old yellow tshirt I never wore and used that. I also used an old cheapy chain I have not worn in years.
I think it is really cute.
I had a specific outfit in mind for this necklace.
Our family pictures.
I love them and cannot wait to get them all hung up and framed.
My whole life right there! <3

Button Earrings

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? I hope it was wonderful, and very blessed! We had two Thanksgiving FEASTS, and we are still full! I was very thankful for maternity jeans that day!

There are only 26 more days until Christmas! Crazy, I know! My favorite gifts to give and receive are thoughtful gifts. What could be more thoughtful than a homemade gift? Today I want to share with you an easy homemade gift that any girl could love!
The day I did this, and took pictures it was so overcast. I am impatient, so forgive the pictures and look past the lighting.

You will need some earring back posts, glue of some sort (I used super glue), and cute button that would make great looking studs.
After you have all your supplies, you can cut off the back of the button with scissors. They sell a special tool for this, but if you are using a plastic button, and have a junky pair of scissors, then this works just fine.
Once the back is cut off, you can glue the stud pieces on the back. I used super glue because that is what I had, but there has to be something better out there. If you know what that is, please let me know!
So you let the glue dry for quite some time, and then you are done! I bet there are some awesome old buttons out there at a goodwill, begging for you to make beautiful earrings out of!
Don't want to make some earrings? Check out these adorable ones you can buy on Etsy.

4th of July necklace

I truly love the Fourth of July. Summer, fun, fireworks, BBQ, what's not to love? This year I wanted to spice up my typical 4th wardrobe, so I made a necklace with things I had around the house.

I think I like it, but I am not quite sure.

Just simple beads, with ribbon tie.

I really like the flower

It is on a pin, so I can take it off the necklace and use on a cardigan or something else.

So what do you think? Super tacky, and I should not wear it, or kinda cute in a patriotic kinda way?

A little jewlery

I am back! I hope to show you what I have been up to soon.

Along with Resurrection Sunday, it was also my Mom's birthday on Easter. Sadly we couldn't be there to celebrate with her this year, so we sent her a few things.

Along with an some shirts and a dress, Brady colored his Grandma a card, and I made her some jewelry.

Brady's card

I made this matching necklace, bracelet, and earrings. The necklace is long, and the set can dress up a simple outfit easily.

This blue necklace is a bit out of my Mom's comfort zone, but it is still neat.

Making jewelry is really very easy once you get a few essential tools. You can get inspiration from jewelry at stores, and normally make them a lot cheaper. Try it is you haven't yet, good luck!

nesting

Yesterday, my friend Becky and her son came over to have a play date. Her little boy, Josiah, is only 14 hours older than Brady, so they are perfect play mates.

While the boys played we were nesting. Not that kind of nesting, well maybe Becky, she is 8 months preggo, but not me. We made nest necklaces. Becky saw an idea online and we tried to copy. Here is one tutorial we found.

Do they look like nests? We haven't found what necklace our little nests will go on yet, but craft play date was a success, and we will have to have more.
